The Hòa Phong tower & the flower market: In the beginning of the XX century there was still a flower market on the Restored lake shore. This was a very pleasant feature of Hanoi in the past. The painting describes the market and the neighboring Hoa Phong tower. This monument is a remaining construction of the grand pagoda Bao An (gratitude pagoda). It has been demolished in 1886 to build the Hanoi Post office.
